Enryaku-ji Temple
Enryaku-ji Temple, called the “Mother Mountain of Japanese Buddhism, is located on Mt. Hiei, and a historic temple known as the place that many great monks came from. The temple grounds are vast and surrounded by nature with a lot of national treasures and important cultural properties. At the Enryakuji Kaikan, you can try Shojin Ryori, a cuisine based on Buddhist teachings and with simple but carefully prepared dishes. It can purify and calm your body and mind. It requires an advance reservation, so please contact us in advance and make a reservation.
